His administration shut down, US military operations threatened paralyzed

US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said the huge impact of the current US Government shutdown was on the military. As is known, Donald Trump government threatened to close after the Democrat president and senator failed to reach an agreement on budget 2018.

According to Mattis, quoted by Reuters on Saturday (20/1/2018), the closure of the government will affect military operations including some training, maintenance and intelligence operations.

"Our maintenance activities will probably be pretty much closed down, more than 50 percent, all from the civilian workforce.We do a lot of intelligence operations around the world and it's expensive, they're going to stop," Mattis said in response to a question about the impact of the potential
shutdown.

Separately, the Defense Ministry said the shutdown would have no impact on US military wars like in Afghanistan or its operations against Islamic militants in Iraq and Syria.

Mattis, speaking during the question and answer period after his speech, said that he would go this weekend to travel to Indonesia and Vietnam. The Pentagon said in a statement that Mattis' trip to Asia will continue as it is necessary for national security and foreign relations.

Earlier, fierce negotiations were held by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Democratic Senate Chuck Schumer on Friday night, January 19, 2018. But in the final minutes before midnight, the talks declared unsuccessful, and the US Government technically suffered a shutdown due to run out of money as a result 'molornya' budget discussion.

Finally, the shutdown is officially announced, right the first anniversary of the inauguration of President Donald Trump. The fate of civil servants there is not clear. There are hundreds of thousands of civil servants in the US who threatened layoff. Of course public service would be very disturbed. National parks and monuments will also be closed to the public. However, essential services will still run.
