G'AFTERNOON STEEMERS! - ONE LAST JOLT BEFORE THE WEEKEND!

Good Afternoon Steemers!

With Friday afternoon rounding down. Great time to get this out. Looks like Bitcoin's closing on the $2,000 (might've even hit it by the time this gets out!). Solid week for the cryptos, USD getting slammed. Otherwise fairly quieter on other news, looks like things are taking a breather. Politicos still playing their games. Alien: Covenant coming out tonight - heard mixed reviews but hey any excuse to get some gmo'd-buttery popcorn! ;)

FINANCE/WORLD PIECES

  •  Stocks Rise Into End of Volatile Week; Oil Surges: Markets Wrap
    • "U.S. equities advanced at the end of a turbulent week as corporate results and a rally in commodities fueled optimism in the world’s largest economy. The dollar headed for its steepest weekly slide since  July. The S&P 500 Index pushed its two-day past 1 percent following the biggest selloff of the year. Crude’s surge above $50 a barrel lifted energy producers amid optimism OPEC will reaffirm  production curbs next week. Deere & Co. and Autodesk Inc. delivered strong results to boost industrial and technology  shares. European equities pared the worst week since November. Brazil’s Ibovespa rebounded 2.6 percent after a rout Thursday. Outside of  the equity and commodity markets, a tone of caution still prevailed. The  10-year Treasury note yield edged higher; it’s down seven basis points  in the week. Gold was little changed on its way to the biggest weekly  rally in a month. The dollar resumed its rout versus the euro." [Link]
  •  Tech Sector Is Seeing Its Biggest Annual Inflows in 15 Years, BofA Says
    • "This year has been a big one for the technology sector, and now we’re getting data on just how quickly investors are piling into this already crowded area of the equity market. Investors ranging from  institutional accounts to retail clients plowed about $1 billion into tech stocks during the past week, pushing inflows to the highest annualized pace in 15 years, according to a Bank of America Merrill Lynch report. Overall, equities saw $8.9 billion in outflows during the period, the bank said." [Link]
  •  Japan's "Correction Protection Team" Rescue Stocks For Second Day
    • "A year ago, we noted that The Bank of Japan (BoJ) was a Top 10 holder in 90% of Japanese stocks. In December, we showed that BoJ was the biggest buyer of Japanese stocks in 2016. And now, as The FT reports, the real "whale" of the Japanese markets is stepping up its buying (up over 70% YoY) entering the market on down days more than half the time in the last four years." TECH/CRYPTO PIECES

  •  Kraken Cryptocurrency Platform Introduces Ripple Trading Pairs
    • "The second largest cryptocurrency in terms of market capitalization,  Ripple (XRP) is now available for a much wider audience. The latest  announcement by popular cryptocurrency exchange and trading platform, Kraken comes as an icing on the cake, following reports of XRP’s addition into six new cryptocurrency platforms. Kraken, in its recent blog post  and mailer to customers, announced the inclusion of four different XRP trading pairs on its platform. The newly introduced cryptocurrency/fiat  pairs include XRP/EUR, XRP/USD, XRP/JPY and XRP/CAD." [Link]
  •  Ethereum Price Rises Above Historic $100
    • "Ethereum is partying like it’s the 90s. The currency is up some 30%  since yesterday, from around $87 to now $114 at the time of writing. Its  online public spaces now have thousands of active users. Its daily  thread has reached a new record of more than 6,000 comments." [Link]
  •  Bitcoin is Just $100 Away From Doubling its Price in 2017
    • "The price of bitcoin has hit a new high on the CoinDesk Bitcoin Price Index (BPI), reaching an $1,902 average across global exchanges. While one in a string of new all-time highs the digital currency has so far set in 2017, this one is perhaps notable as it means the price is now within striking distance of $2,000, a figure that would effectively  find the asset doubling in value in 2017. Bitcoin traded for just over $1,000 on 1st January, but has edged up sharply amid increasing media exposure for its technology and those in  the wider blockchain tech sector. Indeed, on at least two exchanges – Poloniex and Bitfinex – the price was even hovering just over $1,960." TOP STEEM MORNING COMMENT

  • @Swenger - "And in truth, the prices we are seeing in Gold and Silver are nowhere near their true value.  The paper markets have allowed them to be  majorly suppressed.  At this point, crypto coins are not being  [suppressed]."
