Festive New Year Persian in Various Countries

New year is not always celebrated on January 1st. Like the new Persian-following year. The new year called Nowruz is celebrated every March 21st.

Like Imlek, some countries in such as Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan, Iraq and Iran also celebrates Nowruz. Nowruz has been a Persian New Year since 2010. Nowruz marks the start of spring.

At this moment, Persian descendants will gather with their families, wear traditional costumes, cook local specialties, dance and hold a sporting event.

As in Afghanistan, Nowruz will be celebrated with great fanfare. Colorful balloons will be sold on the sidewalk for sale.

If in Iraq different again. Persian descendants will carry flags up into the mountains and carry torches to light. Most of these activities are done by men.

Turkey also celebrates Nowruz with great fanfare. They will gather in an open space and decorate the venue with balloons and interesting events.

In addition to traditional dances and music, bonfire was done in the middle of the field. So excited, the men will start jumping bonfires as a sign of the new year's festivities.

Not only in Asia, Persian descendants in Los Angeles, California will also usually enliven Nowruz. Usually they will hold activities with volunteers in the shelter.

Not only serving local food, the Persian volunteers will enliven the Nowruz with traditional clothes and music.
