By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at State & Local Health Law Weekly -- New research comparing cystic fibrosis patients in the United States and Canada showed that, although the patients’ nutritional status and lung function improved in both countries over the period from 1990 to 2013, the rate of improvement was faster in the United States.

Nutritional status and lung function are closely related to survival in people living with cystic fibrosis, an inherited disease that affects the respiratory and digestive systems.

The findings were published Nov. 3 in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
