Ned Scott's longtime friendship with Keith Alexander is no secret to us and their surveillance program PRISM has been the subject of many conversation starters since Snowden outed them in June of 2013.
The Guardian reported that the US National Security Agency (NSA) was collecting the telephone records of tens of millions of Americans. The newspaper published the secret court order directing telecommunications company Verizon to hand over all its telephone data to the NSA on an "ongoing daily basis".
PRISM began in 2007 in the wake of the passage of the Protect America Act under the Bush Administration with the help of Keith Alexander, Ned Scott, Michael Hyden and Lincoln Faurer. It was just a week after the 9/11 attacks, Congress passed the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Terrorists (AUMF), which inaugurated the "War on Terror". It later featured heavily in arguments over the NSA program.
Ned Scott Headed up the Terrorist Surveillance Program and it was established pursuant to an executive order that authorized the NSA to surveil certain telephone calls without obtaining a warrant. Although not officially public, according to administration statements, the authorization covers communication originating overseas from or to a person suspected of having links to terrorist organizations or their affiliates even when the other party to the call is within the US.
October 2001, Congress passed the Patriot Act, which granted the administration broad powers to fight terrorism and this was just the start to how PRISM was formed.
...But the real question we all have is, Why is NED SCOTT now heading up a blockchain social media site like STEEMIT?

Have any verifiable proof about Ned's position there? Initially, that sounds a bit unrealistic. He's a young guy and people don't just jump into those positions.

As interesting as this would be, I don’t see how it’s possible as you say. That’s 11 years ago, Ned barely looks 30.

I think Ned needs to explain his relationship to Keith Alexander and his work on PRISM. Snowden could expose Ned.

Interesting, though this is certainly the first time I hear any concrete allegations like that.
I find the whole story surrounding Ned's stallling role of past years to fit rather well to this, though I have to say I feel he has been rather genuine lately ever since something shook up Steem and we are magically moving forward again. I still have a bad taste in my mouth from how Dan and Ned had the fallout we never really got to hear the arguments of...
Do you have any evidence that "Ned Scott Headed up the Terrorist Surveillance Program"? And if so is it the Ned Scott or some Ned Scott. Sounds like a rather common name in general.
More specific to the point: What would the NSA gain from any clandestine cooperation with Steemit? Since all data on Steem is published and accessible openly to anyone it would seem this would be wholly unnecessary, unless you are referring to... keys?

I could say the same for the whole PRISM program itself. There are people who still believe to this day that PRISM is just some conspiracy. Would be strange and a bit coincidental to have a random person with the same name running a secret government spy program that just happens to have the same name as head of a blockchain social media. I personally don't believe in coincidences. What do you think?

Agreed!
I just don't believe these things have been leaked involuntarily.
Would love to see the source of Ned's name in conection with the program but as you said, if there are connections already let the man try and explain himself.
Do you have any links I can follow up on?

I don't. I am just learning about this myself.
