Two offshore workers aboard Repsol Sinopec's Fulmar platform sustained injuries yesterday evening after the platforms west crane boom collapsed onto the deck in an uncontrolled manner.
Two Enermech employees were injured in the collapse, with one requiring medevac to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI) with a broken jaw, while the other worker sustained bruising in the incident.
The Fulmar platform has been shut down while an investigation takes place.
A spokesperson for Repsol advised that the cause of the accident is currently unknown, but that an investigation is underway.
The Fulmar platform is located 217 miles east of Dundee.
The HSE have advised they are aware of the incident and are investigating.
Repsol Sinopec gave the following statement:
Repsol Sinopec Resources UK Limited can confirm that two people have been treated for non-life threatening injuries following an incident involving a crane on the Fulmar installation. One person was airlifted to ARI for further assessment. Family members have been informed and all remaining personnel on board are safe.
The platform has been shut down while the incident is investigated further.
