As we strive for equality in our society, we often put the crimes inflicted on women into perspective. Dowry, rape, molestation, eve-teasing and so many unreported crimes that don't come to our attention. The depressing takeaway from these increasingly grotesque crimes is that women aren't safe anywhere.
But, having reaching that conclusion and attempting to strike equanimity between the two genders, we often forget that men have been victims too. Some of them are nabbed and punished for fake dowry cases, molestation and sadly, raped too.
These incidents are few as compared to women, but nevertheless, we can't deny this truth.
This sad reality showed its ugly face in South Africa where three women kidnapped a 23-year-old man and raped him repeatedly for days. After this brutal trauma, his naked body was dumped on the road.
The poor man was drugged, kidnapped and traumatised for three days as he was raped 'numerous' times by three women assailants.
The 23-year-old man's ordeal began after he hailed a taxi from Eastern Pretoria on Friday. The three women were already sitting inside the taxi and directed him to take the front seat. When he did, he was injected with an unknown substance which rendered him unconscious.
According to police, this unparalled violence has taken a toll on him.
The South African police are hunting down the culprits and investigating the disturbing case at present.

This is what the police team had to say:
He stated that he woke up in an unfamiliar room on a single bed. The female suspects then allegedly forced the man to drink an energy drink before taking turns raping him numerous times a day. The South African Police Service take all sexual offences seriously regardless of gender.
"[We assure] all victims of these types of crimes that we will carry out robust investigations to bring offenders to justice." The victim was dumped semi-naked on the road, the same spot from where he had hailed a taxi.
Rapes are on a rise in South Africa and the police have vowed to punish the criminals, irrespective of their gender.
We hope the police team nabs the culprit soon. It's harrowing that such crimes exist and it's high time we open our eyes to a reality which is lurking at almost every corner of the room. Not only in South Africa, but also in India, we need stringent laws to combat such incidents. Nipping them in the bud is the need of the hour.
