BREAKING: Vancouver Police Are Using Prediction Technology For Pre Crime Arrests!

in news •  7 years ago

Remember the film Minority Report?

Well the Vancouver Police Department has just made that fictional concept a reality for Canadians as they have just become the first police force in all of Canada to implement new crime prediction technology.

In this video

Dan Dicks of Press For Truth outlines the lies and contradictions displayed by the VPD as well as the obvious and not so obvious potential areas for abuse with this new technology.

This is a very concerning trend. Bummer about the YT review issue as well.

Cool.

You won't think so when they use it on you.

Good job doing Canadian police

Minority report is getting real. Its not bad, but they should resp. our f... privacy

Terrorism and Islamic/third world immigration are turning Western countries into authoritarian dictatorships.

Why can't the police go to a location where a crime is expected to happen and steak it out? To see if it actually happens. If it happens arrest the person if it doesn't then leave people alone. What if the criminal changes their mind and decides not to commit the crime they initally planned on commiting. They are taking a human beings free will away and arresting people on what could of been instead of what did happen.

Agreed.

Mmmm steak

mmm.. burgers...

@pressfortruth..nice to see your..talking about technology..when i have been scholling at the school..technology is my favorite lesson..but a time said Time said another .. i am continuing my education in the language course. So I am currently a language teacher ..good informasion for me..i always read about technology..thank bro

I hope english isn't one of the languages you teach. ;)

Thanks for sharing. I live in Vancouver and this is pretty disturbing to hear that they will be targeting people. The authority seems to be infringing on our freedom more and more everyday.

Amen. Maybe this started with good intentions but thus should have been shut down long ago.

Especially in the crypto space, do we really trust the government to make decisions? Let alone decisions based on pre-crime...

@cipher The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Central banks and governments are using the threat of terrorism as an excuse to crack down on Crypto currency. They see it as a big threat to their monopoly on the financial system.

The authorities aren't worried. What are Canadians going to do? Revolt?? Get real.

The only time you see a revolt in Canada is when HNIC them song from 30 years gets caught in a legal mess. Now that is worth rioting about !! Or when the Canucks lose the cup.

STEEM On!!

Wow, science-fiction is quickly becoming science fact!

Not totally yet. Elon Musk says he can't build a landing module to carry humans and land on Mars. So we will have to live with the science fiction of the moon landings for awhile yet.

Maybe in 10 years Elon's space team will be able to land human's on the moon or Mars

Really cool post @pressfortruth .

I know in Norway police would often just "lock up" (in parenthesis because the rooms would be more like hotels) the worst criminals with the worst records of theft going into Easter holidays. because that would significantly lower theft in that period.

So guess it is already being done to a lesser extent :p

Talk about over sensationalizing...

They are not arresting people for being in the "wrong place at the wrong time". He said the arrests were for criminals who breached bail agreements etc. Lots of bail agreements state that you can't be carrying certain types of tools if you are a B&E offender etc. They are not going to arrest average Joe for wearing gloves on a cold night in an area where there was a "crime prediction".

This doesn't even seem that high tech or new. Police departments have been using predictive analysis for a very long time... Even before computers they used crime trends to determine where their officers should be dispatched. It sounds like they have just improved on the tech/algorithms.

I like your reporting for the most part but I really think you have a biased opinion on this one. I can obviously see how this type of tech could be abused.. but do you really not see that this could be used for good?

Oh, they have trolls on Steemit too now? ;) This is a real issue. More so for what it may lead to. If you're not a troll and don't see that, open your eyes. It's time to wake up - BEFORE things get out of hand.

Go get your tinfoil hat before the government reads your thoughts.

no. The government doesnt do that. the aliens do. 😂

or you are just that stupid .

You should take your tinfoil hat off, so it can allow real facts of information get into your head. News flash dufis this is very real . Try using those weak fingers and google dipstick.

*Doofus

Anyways I am not denying it isn't real. I am in the tech sector. I know how these prediction algorithms work. It's not as fancy as you think. Just predictive pattern matching based on human behavior. Happening for a very long time but now they developed some fancy software to make it seem more advanced then it is.

Unlike you I have an open perspective for these types of technologies. The dangers that OP is alluding to are pretty far-fetched.

Police departments have been using predictive analysis for a very long time..

You're right

I can obviously see how this type of tech could be abused..

The problem is we have no way of knowing the preventive measures in place to ensure it will never be abused. Who is overseeing this like an ombudsman or 3rd party agency?

do you really not see that this could be used for good

Too many people focus on the good, which eventually leads to abuse eventually. That's the problem.

Scary!

Technology is invitable. The scary part depends on how it's used.

All sides can use the tech. Turns into an arms race.

Thanks for sharing and for the info👍👍👍👍

Awesome!

Kinda Reminds Me Of The Movie Minority Report :)

Very bad....

bad?

Dayam, partner...

The world is rapidly changing my friends, and its gonna be worse by the next 50 to 100 years from now, we are all gonna be mind control by the system on a deeper level than what we are seeing now, thank for this post ,,

The technology has proved that anything can be done via phone tracking device. It also helps police to find out the criminal within few hours. Good job.
Upvoted.

Minority Report is in my top 10 list of all time favorite scifi movies. I think this is actually a step in the right direction. This way we can allocate recourses to where they need to be, thus, reducing lots of redundancy and freeing up some of the burden on the taxpaying citizen.

I love seeing futuristic technology come to life. I just hope it doesn't infringe on any of our rights as humans.

This totally reminds me of the movie Minority Report. I suppose this might be good technology for peaceful intervention, but I do wonder where we should draw the line when it comes to actually pinning some crime or even conspiracy to commit some crime onto someone.

police have done well jobs. They are using modern techonology. As result, crime will decrease dramatically. wow!! World is going to be safe place.

please follow me.

Resteemed and followed. Welcome to Minority Report.

Almost all sci-fi movies are just test beds for technologies they already have or they are working on. They give the ideas to the writers to incorporate into their scripts......then sit back and watch the public's reactions. This determines when the technology is released. If its a positive reaction, its released sooner. If its negative, they know the public needs more brainwashing......and when they are ready, its released then. We have a LOT of really scary stuff coming our way in the form of robots.

They are not three rules safe

Dan Dicks, lol 🍆

hi, How do you put icons in the texts?

emoji is unicode, so you can just copy/paste it. if you want to put other kinds of icons in your text, put them in using markdown.

Thanks for the information, I will surely do it.

Where is tom cruise when yiu need him 😕

Tom cross is beautiful

... the noose is slowly tightening!

Anyone not familiar with what Pre-Crime is, I suggest they start with a little 'science fiction' movie to get up to speed - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0181689/

We are already transparent... :D

using the Precogs like tom cruise ?

This technology could backfire as it seems. It can create chaos as well if something eventually goes wrong. well let's see the result how it actually works and them only we say our opinions more accurately.

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Wow, that's just like Minority Report. Will their pre-cogs arrest Trump supporters for thought crimes for not towing the line on SJW thinking?

Who honestly thinks this is a good idea.. way to install fear into the citizens that their future self may commit a crime.

Truly embarrassing.

This is insanity...lol. Big brother going all out these days...

This is game theory. I think any arrest prior to a crime will be dismissed. What I do see happening in the future is the police staying undercover until just after the crime has happened and then going in for the arrest, which is a lot less "dark", to quote the police chief.

Even though ot all seems like pretty reputable info, I cant help but feel this is just fake. Its right out of hollywood

Controlling the whole world by a few people!

Scary... i knew they would have this concept out already

Great video 🔝

Yeah it began from CCTV and keeps on escalating... there is no privacy anymore in this modern world.. people need to know the truth and fight for it..

so, we don't need the avengers now! :p nice post man. keep it up.

I never thought of the day i witness this ,, but they have a long run before judging !

Great post !!

Thanks for the info

How exactly did you post a video on Steemit
Meanwhile follow me on www.steemit.com/@mickyscofyld

Looks like it's for breakins only. Not exactly like Minority Report at all. Palantir does something similar in the USA, but they're using it to track down undocumented people instead. Thanks Peter Thiel! :P

lol

we are all and our kids are screwed to live in this nightmare new system

How is it even legal. Good thing in America we have the bill of rights to protect us from such atrocitys, although im sure at this rate we will see it here as well.

Great news

Not good, this is very wrong.

They looking for lawsuit lol

Here you'll find only officially released television promos and teasers, along with exclusive interviews and more. Make sure to follow to never miss a video!

nice bro
can you

There is something big here, because here is something that is left without mentioning. I suggest that you further investigate this.

Go

Glad to see you here Dan, I have been watching on YT for a while now.
This is just unbelievable and how Orwellian!?
People are just blind to this kind of thing from police and other "authorities", but thanks to people like you, we get to hear about it!
Cheers.

Oh yeah.. so much for innocent until proven guilty. What makes these guys think we trust them or their algorithm?

Thanks a lot Dance!

Haha Dan auto corrected to Dance :p

It's called reverse onus. You end up having to prove that you are NOT going to commit a crime.

this true

Police: where are you going sir and what are these tools for?

Carpenter: I'm going to work...

Police: not according to our predictive software your not. Your under arrest.

Great post,really enjoyed the video.
It's frightening to think what police will be like in the next few years.

Big pile of horse shit !!!!
=[

Well that's just pure horror by being criminalized without the act being done.

On another note the video has been pulled to view.ly and if you don't know what viewly is you can check the announcement post from here

New world order here we come....
Let's hope someone will turn this country and make it actually free again

Oh yeah.. so much for innocent until proven guilty. What makes these guys think we trust them or their algorithm?

Entrapment. ..is this not just entrapment?
I see this being really bad for the homeless. ...
Son of a.....sigh....thanks for the info Dan.
I think I met you last year while I was busking outside a grocery store. ..
VPD are definitely choosing interesting tactics, while setting unsettling standards for the future.
I just keep wondering who makes the decision? By what authority do they feel they have the right...

Thank you so much for this news !
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you so much for your effort !

You know there are lots of anime and movies dealing with this subject typically it does not go well. I like psyco pass as a prime example.

It's a new approach

i think its great and would be even better if other countries take that step as well

Great news but they should always anticipate for new challenges because as the security try to avoid more problems the trouble makes also try to undermine their security.

Guilty by location, scary times for sure.

Oh you are going to commit a crime.
"what"
You are going to commit a crime.
"Did the magic crystal ball tell you that?"

*Walks Away Crime less 😂😂😂

I'm surprised that we haven't been able to topple this New World Order already. Hopefully we as a people can all come to an Anarchist understanding, and make government useless and invalid. Great post!

Kind of scary...

I knew it would come true! Crazy

You cannot arrest someone before they commit crimes, they havent done anything yet.
This is a problem, and hopefully it doesn't become an accepted method of government control.
This is, in a word, tyranny. To arrest someone for nothing but suspicion - and not even suspicion of a past crime, but suspicion of a crime that is (supposedly) yet to come, is despotic.

What the hell is going on with this world guys really . People are so fed up with technology they forget how to have a good time. Live up a bit. Go outdlors. Enjoy nature lol.
Thanks for sharing the article thought.
Much love and support from me.

I was dragged through the ringer for a year and a half "trial" right here in good old U.S. of A. for, effectively, a thought crime after a NYS entrapment check point set up outside a restaurant that sponsored my soccer team. I refused to admit 'guilt' for this victimless 'crime' and was rewarded with a felony for my compliant efforts. There were no illegal drugs involved, no trespass, no stolen property, no vilolation against any human of any kind.
The predatory police, power-mad judicial system and corrupt legal kabal all collude right here, every day, to drain our will, freedom and above all - our $$$. Ten years from now will be even scarier. . . be smart, be safe.

Wow interesting post, follow and see my content @bangjal

We may end going full "Psycho Pass" with that in a few years.

Very interesting, but as usual it is nothing but another human fail.

great news

I wonder what businesses they will be protecting

Any algorithm can be manipulated. Wouldn't it more beneficial to focus on the crimes our politicians are involved in?

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

In some ways there is already thought crime: when people are arrested for possession with intent (to distribute). There are a few other examples, but essentially people are being given a heftier charge based on what the police think the person would have done.

meep

We have laws much worse in the US today. They are called Hate crimes. Your punishment is determined by someone assessing what they think was going on in your head at the time the crime was committed.

Hate crimes are PC BS.

A crime is a crime. A heinous crime is a heinous crime.

That should be the end of the story.

Wow..
Follow me..
And..
please upvote my essay..
😊😊

@maite hello spanish 😊

hello :v

Lol first thing I thought was Tom Cruise. Crazy it's really in

this is nice. thanks for sharing @pressfortruth

What if this new system is being abused....? Who takes care of it all?

This is alarming

minority report in real world

Real life Minority Report. How come the good stuff from sci fi never comes true?

I just hope this does not open the door for the Police to have this "magic software" that will tell them who and where it is ok to profile people and violate our freedom.

Shit I can give my police force a heads up about 3rd ave downtown, there is probably a drug deal going down right now, lol. Good informational post!!

Will someone from Chicago be calling to get tips from the Vancouver cops?

This is crazy! Followed! Follow back? Thanks a lot!
