Junko Furuta was an 18-year-old Japanese student who was held for 40 days, brutally tortured and raped, and eventually died of her injuries. In this matter, the descriptions of cruel and elaborate abuse by teenage boys are shocking, but also the fact that about 100 people knew about it and did nothing to help the girl.
Junko was born on January 18, 1971 in the Japanese city of Misato. As a teenager she was popular and pretty, she was not attracted to alcohol and drugs, and after school she worked part-time. She was interested in the school bully associated with Yakuza, Hiroshi Miyano, but Junko rejected his advances. So far, no one has ever refused Hiroshi.
On November 25, 1988, Hiroshi and his friend Nobuharu Minato wandered around the city with the intention of robbing and raping Misato's residents. Around 20.30 they noticed Junko coming back from work. Hiroshi ordered his friend to throw the girl off the bicycle and run away, and then he offered the teenager that he would safely take her home. He gained the trust of Junko only to double-rape her in a nearby warehouse and hotel, where he threatened her with death. Then he called from the hotel to Nobuharu, Jō Ogura and Yasushi Watanabe, to show off what he did (the four of them already had collective rape).
Around 3 am, Hiroshi took Junko to the park, where he met the other three, and then they all went to Nobuharu's parents' home. There was another rape there. Teenagers intimidated the girl saying that if she tried to escape, the Yakuza would kill her family.
On 27 November, Junko's parents reported missing to the police. The teenagers forced her to contact her mother and she said that she had run away from home, she was safe and asked the police to close the investigation. At first, Furuta had to pretend to Nobuharu's parents that he was his girlfriend. Later, however, when it became clear that the state Minato and their second son, despite knowing what was happening in their home, did not report the matter to the police, such a procedure became unnecessary. As they testified, their son was more and more violent towards them and they feared retaliation from the Yakuza.
For 40 days, Junko was raped and tortured by four teenagers and dozens of their Yakuza friends. During this time, over 400 times, they raped a girl, beat her and starve her, attached her body to the ceiling and treated her like a punching bag, lit intimate places Junko with cigarettes and lighters, introduced into her vagina and anus various foreign bodies (including firecrackers and hot bulbs) , cut nipples and pierce breasts with needles, force them to eat their excrements and drink urine ... Unfortunately, the list of unimaginable girl tortures is much longer.
One of the rapists (not belonging to the four hijackers) told his brother about the whole story and he contacted the police. Two officers were sent to the house of the Minato family, but they were informed that there was no girl inside, but they could look around. Police officers considered these words as sufficient proof that Junko is not in the middle and said that there is no need. If they did their work with due diligence, the girl would be released after 16 days of torture and she would probably survive. Later, these officers were forcibly expelled from the police.
In early December, the girl tried to call the police herself, but Hiroshi covered her before she could say anything. He punished her feet and feet with petrol for punishment, then set fire to her and shoved her a large bottle into the vent.
Furuta repeatedly asked her persecutors to shorten her torments and simply kill her, but the sadists did not agree. They forced her to sleep on the balcony (it was winter) and closed it in the freezer. Junko was still brutally beaten and raped. The girl finally lost control over the bladder and intestines, vomiting every time she tried to eat or drink, which made the boys who punished her more often. She was so crippled and swollen that she could not be recognized and her body emitted a decaying smell. Only then did she stop sexually interested teenagers who at the time raped a group of 19-year-olds returning home.
On January 4, 1989, the four of them beat Furuta with an iron barbell, kicked her, her eyelids burned with hot wax, and her iron ball for exercise was thrown on her stomach. During an interrogation on March 29, one of the officers suggested Hiroshiem that his colleague had confessed to the murder, and that instead of a 19-year-old he thought about Junko and said where her body could be found. The surprised police found the drum with Furuta's body the next day. Despite the fact that the crime committed by four teenagers was extremely shocking, the court found that at the time the crime was committed, the minors were kept secret and their personal details were kept secret. However, journalists reached this data and published it saying that "the beasts do not deserve the right to anonymity". All four were charged with "committing body injuries that led to death," not murder.18-year-old (at the time of the crime), the leader of the teenagers, Hiroshi Miyano, was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Apparently his mother sent the parents of Junko 50 million yen (425 thousand dollars). In 2013, Hiroshi was arrested again for cheating, but the evidence was not enough to convict him. The 16-year-old Nobuharu Minato received a sentence of 5 to 9 years imprisonment. His parents and brother, in whose house they were detained and tortured, were not accused of complicity, but the parents of Junko filed a civil lawsuit against them which they won. After leaving prison Nobuharu lived with his mother and since then he did not work. The penalty of 17-year-old Yasushi Watanabe ranged from 5 to 7 years in prison. After leaving, he married Romania. 17-year-old Jō Ogura was sentenced to 8 years in prison for minors. After leaving, he boasted of his role in the abduction, raping and torturing of Furuta. In 2004, he was sentenced to 7 years in prison for assaulting his friends. Ogura's mother supposedly destroyed the grave of Junko, claiming that she had ruined her son's life, and Jō himself squandered his father's estate. The persecution was so low for the most brutal murder in history, because teenagers protected juvenile laws. Had the crime been committed a few years later, Hiroshi would probably be sentenced to death and his comrades to life imprisonment. During the trial, one of the spectators fainted after hearing the details of rapes and torture. Junko's mother had a nervous breakdown.
