Rally Dakar 2018: Starting at Lima and finishing in Cordoba
On 6 January, Lima will launch the Rally Dakar 2018 and after going through three countries Peru, Bolivia and Argentinα, for the first time since it is being held in South America, it will end in Cordoba after 14 days on January 20th .
The city of Argentina will replace Buenos Aires, which was usually the last stop of Dakar since 2009. It will be the fifth time in 10 years that the route will not end in the Argentine capital.
Of the 9,000 kilometers of the route, the 5,000 are special. For its 40th edition, which will be the tenth in South America, the Rally Dakar will agai meet the Pacific Ocean and especially the demanding dunes of Peru, while five days will pass to La Paz at an altitude of more than 3,500 m .
There are 525 registered participants of 54 different nationalities with huge names such as Carlos Sainz,Sébastien Loeb,Khalid Al Qassimi,Nasser Al-Attiyah,Mikko Hirvonen,Tim and Tom Coronel and 78 Rookies who will make their first appearance. There will be 337 vehicles in the race, of which 190 are motorcycles and Quads. In the category of cars there are 105 vehicles 42 trucks and 10 UTV's.
