Pre-paid SIM card registration using NIK and KK still reap the controversy. There is suspicion that the data was leaked or misused by irresponsible individuals, both from the government and private sides.
On various occasions, Minister of Communications and Information Technology (Menkominfo), Rudiantara said, the government ensures the data society will not leak.
The data of the community was never held by Kominfo or telecommunication operators, but directly went to the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registry (Dukcapil) to validate the identity of the customers of prepaid SIM cards.
Nevertheless, SAFEnet Regional Coordinator, Damar Juniarto considers the registration of prepaid SIM cards to collect too much personal data. Although it seems only NIK and KK numbers, but from there there are some fragments of other information.
