Scores of staff at Topshop’s 300 sites and Topman’s 250 could be made redundant
Hundreds of retail jobs face the chop as Sir Philip Green’s Arcadia Group cuts costs amid a harsh trading environment on the High Street.
Scores of staff at Topshop’s 300 sites and Topman’s 250 could be made redundant as the retail empire plans to get rid of individual ‘brand managers’ where there is a Topshop and Topman within the same store.
It could also axe posts where there are two stores close to each other, requiring one manager to take charge of both.
Arcadia also owns Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins and Burton Menswear and, like many stores, is struggling to compete with online retailers such as Asos and Boohoo.
Its profits plunged 16 per cent to £211million in 2016 as it dealt with costs related to the collapse of BHS.
