American Airlines due to a failure in the program, which makes up the lists of pilots who receive a regular vacation during the Christmas holidays, granted a vacation in the second half of December to too many pilots.
Now the company is trying to resolve the situation, when in one of the most stressful periods of the year it remains with a limited number of crews.
According to the Allied Pilots Association, in the period from December 17 to December 31, more than 15,000 flights will be incomplete if the airline does not find a way out of the situation.
Flights that may be affected are sent from Boston, Washington, New York,Miami, Chicago, Philadelphia and a number of other cities.
As the American Airlines spokesman Matt Miller said, they are actively working to resolve the problem and expect that they will be able to avoid canceling flights during the holiday season. The airline management sent emails to all pilots, offering them to work overtime for an additional fee.
We have pilots in reserve to fly in December, and we will pay those pilots who agree to carry out unmanned flights, 150% of their hourly rate - so much we can pay under the terms of the employment contract.
