It's probably not Peter Thiel's fault that his name just happens to be a perfect anagram of the words "The Reptile". And it's surely just a coincidence that Thiel was awestruck with the concept of "scapegoat mechanisms" as a means to settle conflict and restore peace among competitors when he was a student at Stanford. In the end, everything will surely work out fine. Bannon will earn millions from the notoriety of Michael Wolff's book, the President will have access to all the AI tools he needs in his battle against the Deep State, and Peter Thiel just became the voice that whispers behind the throne.
“The brutal elimination of the victim would reduce the appetite for violence that possessed everyone a moment before, and leaves the group suddenly appeased and calm.”
— Wikipedia page explaining "scapegoat mechanism" taught by Rene Girard
The Reptile strikes again. Even though I have a sneaky suspicion that Peter Thiel doesn't lie awake at night thinking about it, his very name "PETER THIEL" is a perfect anagram of "THE REPTILE" - a perfect fit with no leftover letters. Is it coincidental that the first scapegoat to whom blame was transferred in mankind's earliest fall from grace was a serpent in the Garden of Eden? The reason I bring this up is because one of the great light bulb moments in Peter Thiel's life occurred when he was a student of Rene Girard at Stanford who taught Thiel about the "scapegoat mechanism".
Girard was known for his ideas on "mimetic desire" and the "scapegoat mechanism" as a means of squashing conflict. He is the author of the book "Things Hidden from the Foundation of the World". His theories are densely packed, but this quotation from his biography at Wikipedia spotlights the conciliatory role played by a communal offering of a sacrificial victim:

The brutal elimination of the victim would reduce the appetite for violence that possessed everyone a moment before, and leaves the group suddenly appeased and calm. The victim lies before the group, appearing simultaneously as the origin of the crisis and as the one responsible for this miracle of renewed peace. He becomes sacred, that is to say the bearer of the prodigious power of defusing the crisis and bringing peace back.
Therefore the events that have befallen Steve Bannon this week should come as no surprise. He now appears to be the scapegoat whose sacrifice will restore equilibrium to the Trump administration. Remember that it was Bob Mercer and the world of #BigData who placed Trump in the White House. I have no doubt that today's storm over the publication of "Fire and Fury" will prove to be yet another of those delicious backfires that the President has been so adept at using to his advantage.
Below, I present a handful of tweets dating back to early November 2017 to help us keep our eye on the #BigData agenda that is steadily moving forward. It is now apparent that Peter Thiel and his web of AI-related corporations have become the voice behind the throne. A year ago on one of our RM broadcasts, I half-joked that it would be so funny if President Trump ran CNN into the ground just so he could pick up their broadcast infrastructure and re-launch it as his own media platform. With Peter Thiel at his side, the President may have just moved one square closer to achieving that very goal, per this ZeroHedge story posted yesterday.
We'll let the usual mockingbird media minions rush out to their nearest bookstore to purchase their copy of Bannon's book (that is, his book via Michael Wolff). Bannon won't be too crushed; after all, there's no such thing as bad publicity, right? For all we know, in this world of Trump 4D chess, the whole brouhaha could be a pre-engineered show that will somehow work to the President's favor. Within a week or two, the nation's short attention span will be diverted elsewhere.
Meanwhile the full scale digitization of our human reality moves forward. Peter Thiel's startup venture with Ethereum seems to be working out well and Bitcoin will continue to be the poster child for irresistible digital wealth and digital happiness in 2018.

Cool analysis. Definitely a follow. Will see what happens this week. Thanks!

And what would Michael Wolff's part be in this? Is he a master scapegoat producer?
