Nokia has confirmed the release of smartphones under its own brand in 2017.
The legendary brand is reviving phones, and investors can expect to see more innovations in the coming months. This was mentioned in a document from the event for Nokia's Capital Markets Day 2016 Investors.
The new smartphone the Finnish company will present in the second quarter of 2017. The devices will be released on the Android platform. It is also expected that Nokia will next year introduce new plates.
The first smartphone under the brand of Nokia, released after a significant break, may be Nokia D1C. It is expected that the manufacturer will be the company HMD global. In May, Nokia announced a strategic licensing agreement with Finnish HMD Global with respect to intellectual property and brand, in which the HMD Global will be able to create a new generation of phones and tablets under the brand name Nokia over the next ten years.
Let us add, in 2013, Nokia sold the business of Microsoft's mobile phone. Under the deal, the total of which amounted to EUR 5.44 billion, the Finnish company is not yet able to produce smartphones under the Nokia brand. The term of limitation expires at the end of 2016.
Thanks for the info! Been waiting for some news for a while. Finally Nokia is getting rid of Windows Phone and switching to Android.
