A giant that resists to die
Souce
The first giant planet was discovered orbiting a white dwarf, something that we thought was practically impossible and could predict what the future of the solar system will be.
White dwarfs represent the end of a star's life, these once their fuel supply has run out, they become hundreds of times larger, enveloping nearby planets, then collapsing under their own gravity and giving rise to these pale remnants.
The white dwarf that occupies us is about the same size as the earth, but it retains a planet, about four times larger than this one that orbits it once every ten days, due to this rapid orbit it is leaving a trace of hydrogen-composed gas , oxygen and sulfur in its path, forming a gas disk of the star, which in fact allows its discovery.
The relevant thing about this finding is that until now there was no evidence of any planet that had survived the transition from a star to a white dwarf, how the hell did it survive and if this is an anomaly or the norm, it is something We don't know for now.
