Internet Distortion: Why We Need Net Neutrality

in news •  7 years ago

Today, the FCC plans to vote to repeal the Obama era Net Neutrality regulations. These new policies will allow broadband companies to self-regulate how they provide access to certain sites and their users. Killing Net Neutrality will also scrap consumer protections, prevent states from enacting rules that contradict the FCC's measures.

Sam sat down with Ryan Singel, a Media and Strategy Fellow at Stanford Law School’s Center for Internet and Society, to discuss the history of Net Neutrality and what happens when we enact such dramatic changes to what has become an essential utility in our society.

How will the repeal of Net Neutrality change the way Steemit and cryptocurrency work? Sound off in the comments and let us know what you think!

What can we do as citizens on this planet?

HEY DEAR @samseder THANX YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS NEWS .

Handing over regulatory control of the internet to the FCC was never something I supported.

Now that the FCC voted 3-2 to repeal net neutrality, what do you think the landscape for the internet will be for the next few months to a year? I'd like to know @davidpakman thoughts on this too.

So many disturbing things happening at once, overload. Welcome.

Resteemed!

Loss of Net Neutrality will hurt progressive media and democracy, as well as Blockchain platforms like Steemit, Bitcoin, and Ethereum.

Another view of what net neutrality really is.

Now I am not an american and have nothing at stake, my country has free competition for internet providers, and our prices are soooo cheap and the quality very high. In my area I have more than 15 internet providers competing, and that means great speed at very low costs. This episode is worth watching for those who are open-minded, and would like to know both sides of the argument.

He is dead.
