Teachers and students

A relationship between the teachers and students is complicated. I have had bad teachers all my life. I still get to see some of them when I go to attend something at my son's school ( my son goes to the same school, that I studied at). Teachers during the early 90's thought threatening at the highest pitch of their voice was a way to get things done.

I had pretty bad time at school and the teachers had decided that they would make sure that my peace at home should also be in danger by humiliating my parents in front of other kids for no fault of theirs. I wish these teachers had had some training on how to teach rather than give lectures in class before taking up the job.

The relationship between the students and teachers was always the sore one for students who scored awerage marks. The ones who excelled in studies we're the only ones who were appreciated.

Well, things have pretty much changed now. Present time is a lot more different than what it was around 20 years ago. Teachers have no rights to complain instead they should work on making the child bring out his/her full potential and if the teacher is not successful than it is he/she who has to be blamed not the child.

It is difficult to find a teacher who is loved by his/her students but not impossible. There is a teacher in Chennai who was no less than a good for the students of the school where he taught 'english'. He was more like their friend than their teacher. He treated everyone alike. He made sure that everyone liked the subject he taught. He didn't judge anyone on their learning capabilities. He helped his students by solving their major and minor issues.

The students staged a protest to reverse his transfer orders. It was an emotional moment to see the teacher and his students all in tears as he left the school premises where he has been teaching for around 4 years. The students said that no one can replace him.

He must have been. Really good teacher for so many kids to tell so. I wish every student gets a teacher like him, then learning would surely be a fun experience.
