The Finance Minister said steps have been taken to build and rebuild 61 bridges to strengthen the communication network in the western part of the country. There is a plan to build the bridge over the Galachipa, Pigeon and Kacha rivers and to construct the 2nd Padma bridge in Paturia-Goalanda location.
Besides, a memorandum of understanding has been signed with the Chinese government to build the 9th (Baga Bridge), Tenth (Mongla Bridge) and XIsh (Jhapjapia) Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge, he added.
The finance minister said construction of tunnels under the Karnaphuli river has started. I hope to complete this work by 2022.
