Tehran, Iran: Search Continues to Recover Possibly Trapped Survivors from Collapsed Plasco Bldg Explosion

The search and rescue efforts actively continues for any possible surviving shopkeepers and 16 missing and/or trapped firefighters. Two bodies have been recovered,  a third died at the hospital and 170 have been injured.

DNA samples have been obtained by family members of those missing to help identify any more recovered bodies. Trauma teams are on standby to treat the family members and friends who are at a designated trauma center.

Some of the locals have reported that hidden underneath the formerly 17 story high rise Plasco Bldg, which was constructed in the 60s, are cellars where victims may be able to seek safety; however, signs of "life" are not detected on their recording devices.

It's been reported that on January 19,  2017, a fire started on the ninth floor at around 07:50 Tehran time (04:20 GMT). The building was occupied at the time by its  residents, workers at the garment shops, and various tour groups that  were being shown around the building. 

Rescuers are now focused in the 50% of areas left uncleared with the assistance of heavy machinery and sheer physical strength of others digging their way through the thick smoldering debris in their hope to find any missing people:
