When a famous author or musician passes away, we often see a series of posthumous releases from that person as time goes on. Such will not be the case for fantasy author Terry Pratchett.

Pratchett, who had been battling Alzheimer's disease, passed away at the age of 66 in 2015, and Rob Wilkins, the long time assistant to the writer said that he would fulfill Pratchett's wishes that his unpublished works not be completed and released by someone else.

To that end, a six and a half tonne steamroller was brought in to ensure that the incomplete novels that were stored on the hard drive, estimated to be up to 10, could not possibly be retrieved.

Surprisingly, the hard drive held up so well against the steamroller that they had to put it into a stone crusher to finish the job. Who says they don't make things like they used to?

The remaining pieces of the hard drive will be put on display at the Salisbury Museum in an exhibition called Terry Pratchett: His World Exhibition. The exhibition will begin on September 16.

I'm glad his final wishes were followed. Interesting story Scott.

Thank you. I thought so too.

I love the bittersweet aspect to this.

Yes. It's nice that the man had the integrity to say that he didn't want those works put out by someone else.

Agreed! And, that the person in possession actually followed his wishes. Post mortem craziness does happen.

It shows how honourable and devoted his assistant is. Good for him!

Indeed, and that is a true happy ending.

He'll carry those stories on with him into eternity... great post! :)

Thank you @tinajordan
