২০১৮-১৯ অর্থবছরে প্রস্তাবিত বাজেটের মধ্য দিয়ে দেশের বাইরে থেকে আমদানি করা মোবাইলের দাম বৃদ্ধি পেতে পারে এবং কমতে পারে আমদানি করা সফটওয়্যারের দাম।
৭ জুন, বৃহস্পতিবার জাতীয় সংসদের বাজেট অধিবেশনে অর্থমন্ত্রী আবুল মাল আবদুল মুহিত এ ঘোষণা দেন।
ঘোষণা অনুযায়ী, এ বছর বাজেটে আমদানিকৃত ফোনে সারচার্জ ১ থেকে বাড়িয়ে ২ শতাংশ করার প্রস্তাব দেওয়া হয়েছে। এতে দেশের বাইরে থেকে আমদানি করা মোবাইলের দাম বৃদ্ধি পেতে পারে। অবশ্য মোবাইল ফোনের কাঁচামাল আমদানিতে শুল্ক কমানোর প্রস্তাব দেওয়ায় কমতে পারে দেশে উৎপাদিত মোবাইলের দাম।
এ ছাড়া দেশে যেসব সফটওয়্যার তৈরি হয় না বা দেশের বাইরে থেকে আমদানি করতে হয়, ওইসব সফটওয়্যার আমদানিতে শুল্ক ২৫ শতাংশ থেকে কমিয়ে ৫ শতাংশ করার প্রস্তাব করা হয়েছে। আর ১৫ শতাংশ ভ্যাটও তুলে নেওয়ার প্রস্তাব করা হয়েছে। এতে আমদানি করা সফটওয়্যারের দাম কমবে।
ডাটবেজ, অপারেটিং সিস্টেম, ডেভেলমেন্টস টুল, প্রোডাক্টিভিটি, অটোমেটিক ডাটা প্রসেসিং মেশিনের জন্য কমিউনিকেশন বা কোলাবরেশন সফটওয়্যারসহ বিভিন্ন সফটওয়্যারে এই ছাড় দেওয়ার কথা বলা হয়েছে।
