Arms Race 2018 - Is War Actually On The Horizon?!? Pt 1 - RussiasteemCreated with Sketch.

Some people might consider the title to be a bit alarmist, but spare me a few moments to reveal some current day realities that might make you second guess that opinion...

DEATH FROM BELOW

There's been a lot of talk over the media about Russia and elections, but even more concerning, is the Russian revelation of newly developed weapons. First on the list, the Ocean Multipurpose System Status-6 (aka KANYON), is an underwater drone submarine. This vessel could literally lay dormant in the arctic waters, which would make it far more difficult to detect, until upon which time it could be powered up to execute an attack mission. Documents leaked by the Russians (some suspect deliberately) in 2015, list the abilities of the vessel as such;

  • carry a multi-megaton nuclear bomb with a range of about 10,000 kilometers (6,200 miles)
  • move at a speed of 54 knots, or 100 km/h (60 mph) and travel to a depth of more than 1,000 meters (faster then any torpedoes and can reach depths far below any American submarine vessel)
  • carry a 100-megaton nuclear warhead, which Putin said could target coastal targets and warships (potentially create a tsunami wave up to 500 meters (1,600 ft) tall, which would radioactively contaminate a wide area on an enemy's coast)

DEATH FROM ABOVE

Don't live on the coast and think you're OK? Don't worry, Russia was thinking about you too! On the less scary end, we have the Avangard missile which travels at 20 times the speed of sound, which surprisingly isn't the impressive part... The impressive part is it's maneuverability at that speed which Putin claims renders it invulnerable to any and all weapons defense systems.

Now on the more terrifying end, we have the nuclear powered cruise missile. That's right folks, a nuke powered by nuclear energy. What that translates into is a nuclear missile that can travel around the globe INDEFINITELY. It can take whatever scenic route it so chooses, before raining down fiery hell upon whatever target it so chooses. Apparently, Putin wants to make it clear that Russia is unhappy with the U.S. withdrawal from a Cold War-era treaty banning missile defenses, as well as the U.S. development of a missile defense system.

This is the end of Pt 1. In Pt 2 I'm going to discuss China and what they've been up to recently.

Awesome, thanks for your support! I'm compiling the info for part 2 now, hopefully that'll interest you as well.

Pretty informative. I mean I knew some of this like about some of what Russia has but a lot of it I did not know. Thanks for putting all this info together.
