This is how the largest wind turbine blades in the world are installed

A logistical nightmare This is how to install the largest wind turbine blade in the world, 83.5 meters long and 4.2 wide. Even more if you have to transport it hundreds of kilometers from its place of manufacture to fit it in a wind turbine on the high seas. That's just what they had to do in Denmark to take these blades to Scotland.

The blades were manufactured in Denmark to be installed in a offshore wind farm in Scotland that will start producing energy in 2015. Below you can see a video of the whole process (note: the initial video is no longer available, we have replaced it with another one ):

The Danish firm SSP Technology manufactured these blades, which will be coupled in turbines manufactured by Samsung Heavy Industries. Yes, Korean does much more than smartphones, TVs and refrigerators.

The fascinating thing is that, with almost 84 meters long, these blades fall short. Manufacturers are competing to create blades up to 100 meters long and install them in offshore turbines. The increase in size would allow to produce more energy and thus compete better with fossil fuels. In it they are.
