This Week in the Sndbox

Welcome to the 26th State of the Sndbox newsletter! This week, we explain our long-term mission to incorporate a true incubator into Steemit, publish our results for a Steemit-wide history challenge, updated some vital resources, and explore some the major happenings going on in Sndbox!

For a more thorough breakdown of what our members have been up to, be sure to go through our weekly Sndbox Selections of the Week post that we publish each Monday.

What is a [Steemit] Incubator?

To explain a bit more about the foundation and mission that Sndbox is built on, we published a full run down on the concept/operation of “Incubators” in the modern digital world and why they’re so vital in establishing self-sufficiency and growth in any sector. They’ve become a mainstay in the global world of startup companies and we’re striving to apply those strategies here on Steemit.

Read about the precedent of incubators and their potential integration into Steemit here.

100 Year Challenge Results

In the spirit of the @phillyhistory and its ambition to impact higher education with the Steemit platform, we launched our platform-wide challenge to participate in their research activity on the year 1918. We asked Steemians to submit their own stories and research. The submissions were incredible, diverse, and very creative. See the results of the competition here!

@sndbox Projects Update

Since the launch of the first full cohort, many of our members are already off to the races in the effort to establish impactful projects worldwide. As a creative Steemit incubator, we’ve been focused on helping them establish long-term commitments and ambitions on this platform. Our latest update goes through several of these amazing and admirable endeavors. You can find the list here.

How Much is Your Steemit Post Worth?

With the implementation of two distinct currencies and multiple sections incorporated in the Steemit payout system, it can quickly become confusing trying to figure out how much a post or comment is actually worth. In this latest toolkit resource, we go through the process of calculating payouts and the financial expectations of 100% Power-Up vs. 50/50.

You can find the full resource here.

Markdown Update

We’ve updated our Markdown resource to structure and sort the basics of Steemit's blogging language for new and even experienced users. Find the full new update here.

Sort Order:

@sndbox So which is suggested to be better to use 100% or 50/50 payout?

Good question @phillip20steem! For the moment, definitely 50/50. Because the market value of 1 Steem Dollar is actually worth more than 1 US Dollar.

You can learn more and explore current market values, here: https://steemit.com/steemit/@sndbox/how-much-is-your-post-worth-a-steemit-rewards-guide

Now steem is up by 55% and if you buy steem using blocktrades its now 1SBD = 1.09STEEM. Exciting times

Thanks @sndbox

As always, thanks for the update @sndbox. The post payouts sheet is extremely helpful, can I ask what platform you built it on?

Hi Luke, thank you! We do all of our graphics in-house using the Adobe suite - in this case Adobe Illustrator.

Okay perfect, thanks!

A sndbox fellowship provides a cushion of support which allows creativity to flourish to an extent I would have never expected. What a remarkable experience.

Steemit is a social media game changer, and sndbox is a steemit game changer. If I had to describe sndbox in one word:

Symbiosis

(happening on multiple levels)

Aw, I missed the lovely post about payouts! I've replicated the following comment in the other post as well:

The graphics are simply amazing. One large caveat that I think everyone should know:

  • The $ value it shows on your post is sensitive to the STEEM price. As in, STEEM's reward pot is fixed in terms of STEEM, and a post's value should be considered as valued in terms of STEEM (this amount does not fluctuate with the market, only on votes and vesting ratios of voters)

It's easy to look at this and conclude that STEEM's price going up is a bad thing. But in fact, it is the opposite: STEEM's price going up means that the payout value to begin with will show a higher number. After all, what's shown is simply the value of your post in STEEM multiplied by the STEEM market price.
