This Week in the Sndbox

Happy Pi Day everyone! Welcome to the 33rd State of the Sndbox newsletter! This past week, we tried to help you digest this disruptive technology we call the steemit platform by showing you a rough draft of our illustrated flash cards. We put a spotlight on @blockmountain, a community of artists that aims to launch their first blockchain based music album. We also dug deeper into "what being an artist means" through curation by @paolobeneforti.

For a more thorough breakdown of what our members have been up to, be sure to go through our weekly Sndbox Selections of the Week post that we publish each Monday.

Illustrated Flash Cards - Top 10 Questions about Steemit

How many questions do you answer before you finally convince someone to get on board the steemit platform? These FAQ flash cards have questions you have chosen for us and we plan to make answering these questions for newbies and prospective users a whole lot of fun for everyone! The tenth question is a wild card where we asked you to enter your suggestions through the comments. These questions stood out:

"How many times can I post and upvote in a day?"
"If it's decentralized, why flagging?"
"What is the difference between steemit and other social media platforms?"

Explore and Discover Art with @paolobeneforti

Steemit is changing the rules about what being an artist means as said by @paolobeneforti by creating an avenue for artists to be rewarded for great content!

Whether it be surrealism by @gric, ironic creativity by @reinhard-schmid, dark fantasy by @twirble, post expressionism by @elewarne, or eerie digital paintings by @tomek.biniek.art, we applaud these great artists for their amazing talent and colorful self expression.

Project Spotlight: Blockchain Powered Music album by @blockmountain

We put a well-deserved spotlight on @blockmountain community by @djlethalskillz, @playitforward, and @scuzzy who aim to create a unified album of Steemit musicians, with art created by Steemit artists, all in collaboration to make their first community project a resounding reality.

The Block Mountain album is a steem-powered album that will propel the @blockmountain community into a continuously growing and immensely diversified range of artistry -- creating links between the steemit blockchain and its external communities.

STEEMPH communities - Growth and Strength as an archipelago

Since its launch in August 2017, the @steemph community has focused on building the Filipino Steemit Blogging Community through positivity and empowerment.

The initial challenge when @steemph was envisioned was that the Philippines is a vast archipelago separated by islands and bodies of water. Uniting communities across regions in this sense has been a drive to a more decentralized approach while uniting under one goal and one @steemph community.

The mission of Charity and Camaraderie on the Blockchain has since then grown exponentially with numbers from 30 to more than 200 in each hub, through the help of excellent community leaders in different hubs all over the Philippine archipelago and the world.

Through this exceptional leadership exhibited by @steemph hub leaders, we bring you these community meetups this March and April:

March 10 - Cavite Meet-Up Caravan
March 26 - Steemph.Antipolofest
March 17 - Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID) fundraiser in Valkyrie
March 31 - @steemph.negros meet up and orientation
April 4 - Homesteading Brigade in Samal, Davao
April 6 - Davao Stop for Meet-Up Caravan

Earn from loving your data, the early blockchain revolution.

In this information age where explosion of data is monetized by corporations unbeknownst to social media consumers like us, the Steem blockchain is changing the status quo by decentralizing that monetization. Leveraging an attention economy to mine data for marketing, advertising and sales, we need to wake up and smell the Steem dollars, and take the ownership and monetization of the data we put out, even if it is just a picture of our cats and dogs.

We quoted Justin Beieber with our advice to love yourself, love the content you put out, and love the content you digest as you partake in the attention economy. Very soon, gears will turn and churn out a paradigm shift on how we put value onto our data through cryptocurrency and the blockchain, eliminating the middle men on this monetization and helping us get the rewards we deserve.

I totally forgot about pi day thanks for the reminder!

Great work @sandbox and @luvabi, awesome write up about SteemPh ♥️ Oh.. I totally forgot about Pi Day too!

I just ask you recently about this... both of you have big contribution to sandbox @bearone and @luvabi .. great job ladies..

Thanks @jezmacher!

oh, ate @bearone what is Pi Day?

Pi, denoted by the Greek letter “π”, has been part of human knowledge for millennia, but it wasn’t until 1988 that physicist Larry Shaw organized what is now recognized as the first “Pi Day” celebration at the San Francisco Exploratorium science museum. Shaw chose March 14, or 3.14 — the first three digits of pi — as Pi Day. Shaw died last year, but Pi Day is still celebrated by lovers of mathematics around the world. source

That's fantastic... What's happened in Steemit is a stunning thing...
We are progressing a lot, but all ideas must be taken care of... In order to advance as one block...
There's a lot of ideas and a lot of people doing great things and they need our support.

Question on the Block Mountain... @sndbox. The upvote will be given to the winner and/or the chosen designs? Are the upvotes given per week or only when the contest is over? Have not seen any upvoted posts at all from those who entered the album cover design more than 7 days ago so I was wondering abt it.

Hello @artgirl The primary initiative of Block mountain is to produce and release the first of the Block Mountain album series featuring the Steemit community, the music and art teams are being selected through a series of weekly initiative to help us scout and chose the team that we putting together to create great Music and Arts, compensation to those involved will be made throughout the project through upvotes and others forms. If you have any further questions regarding the project u can reach us directly on @blockmountain or hit me up on Discord User Name: djlethalskillz#7371
Looking forward to see your entry, kudos

Oh are u on steem.chat as well? I don't have Discord. So the upvote does not happen within the 7 day period of anyone's submission then but afterwards moving forward is that correct? I was planning to submit a design and I noticed that on some of the early submissions so I thought I'd ask first to clarify so as not to expect any upvote if ever. 😊

Unfort. Im not on Steemit chat as Im a mod on various channels on Discord u can join the Block Mountain Discord easily by clicking here https://discord.gg/feKFzc
u can still submit your entry this week if your up to potentially be part of the art team for the project when it kicks off soon, Cheers ;)

Ok but regarding my question?
