Sourav Ganguly breaks 65-year-old record as BCCI president

Sourav Ganguly, one of the most successful captains of the Indian cricket team, took over as the chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Wednesday. The former captain, who took over the reins of Team India, made it clear that he would play the role of the boss in the BCCI with the same attitude as he once captained. Ganguly set a record as soon as he became president. Former captain Sourav Ganguly is the 39th president of the BCCI. Ganguly, 47, took responsibility for this important post on Wednesday. Ganguly is the first cricketer to hold the post after 65 years. Prior to this, most of the people sitting on the post of BCCI president were related to politics, then business.

In 1954, the last time an Indian cricketer took over as the President of BCCI. Team India's Test cricketer Maharaja Kumar Vizianagaram, known as 'Vijji', took over as the chairman before Ganguly. From the years 1954 to 1956 he played the role of the head of Indian cricket. Now 65 years later, an Indian cricketer has been given this position.
