I work for a pharmaceutical manufacturer in Houston. We began implementing our disaster plan in the days leading up to Harvey. The expectation was that the storm would center on Corpus Christi and we would only get peripheral effects. The real tragedy here is that funding for NOAA and other critical agencies has been slashed and our weather forecasting and modeling capabilities are no longer world class.
