My heart and prayers go out to all the hardworking staff and stranded holidaymakers who booked with #ThomasCook and paid in good faith.

This is what their website says.!!

Financial Sh*t Show.!!

It emerged on Friday that #ThomasCook made an 11th-hour appeal for a Government bail-out and it was refused.!!

Yet in 2008 the Government bailed out the Banks to the tune of around £1trillion.!!

I hope people finally wake up and realise who's running the Financial Sh*t Show.!!

It is interesting that our economic laws are such that company doings just STOPS once they enter bankruptcy.

I am surprised that there isn't an ex-Thomas Cook plane stranded in mid air.

In american bars, they at least have the decency of calling last round.
At least have the decency of getting your people home.

But, business doesn't work that way.

Yet another ONCE well run and respected company goes to the wall. The origins of the company date back to 1841, formed by Thomas Cook in Leicester, England and being the first travel company.

Once the bankers/financiers get control of a company they bleed it dry and rip the guts out of it. They walk away with hundreds of million of pounds, or more, and leave everyone else destitute. I feel really sorry for the passengers left stranded, but more so for the employees who have now lost their jobs.

Shocking and deplorable!

you see this in Germany too. Air berlin ceased to exist in 2017 already.

It never ceases to amaze me how surprised people are - still - about all this...

OMG!!!

Just a supplementary: the bosses of Thomas Cook received more than 22 million euros in bonuses in the last 5 years...

This one is long overdue!

I am not pitying. This business model of flying masses of people around the world sucks. Most of them stay in cheap hotels where employees are kept under bad conditions, eat too much low-quality food, hang around at swimming pools, getting skin cancer from sun,... I hope you get my point.

This is quite a crisis but probably it was building up for some time. Why it happened like it did is the question we should put ourselves and where the insurance officers where and preventing this...?
