According to this report, Costa Rica has now gone 76 days without using any fossil fuels. This just goes to show what's possible now for smaller countries. Hopefully other small countries will follow Costa Rica's example and eventually even larger countries.

This is actually the second time in the past 2 years that Costa Rica has achieved this feat, which means they've gone a total of 150 days in 2016 where they ran 100% on renewable energies.

The countries renewable energy comes from a mixture hydro, solar, wind, and geothermal. Hydro power accounts for the bulk of it at 80.27%. This is great news for those of us longing for the day when fossil fuels are officially a thing of the past.

pretty incredible! it's so great that a nation is able to produce clean renewable energy. I really wish this was implemented in more countries. There's a part of me that wonders if this project in Costa Rica has anything to do with Agenda 21? Does anyone know?

Never heard of Agenda 21!

Thanks for sharing the new!

What also helps is to own the adequate resources. You need rivers, wind, etc., to be able to feed your entire energy needs with renewable energy alone. That's great that Costa Rica made it. I am more doubtful about other countries being able to do it. At least at present time.
