Manchester: the brother of the alleged perpetrator was aware of the planned attack

The brother and father of Salman Abedi, the alleged perpetrator of the Manchester bombing claimed by the Islamic State (EI), were arrested in the Libyan capital Tripoli, a Libyan security services unit said on Wednesday.

Arrested Tuesday, Hachem Abedi, born in 1997 in Britain, "said he belonged to the EI as well as his brother Salman Abedi," says on his Facebook page the deterrent Force, which acts as a police, loyal To the Government of National Unity (GNA) in Libya.

He was arrested Tuesday at 20:00 local time when he received 4500 Libyan dinars sent by his brother Salman, according to the same source that does not provide more details.
Wednesday, the father of the alleged perpetrator of the murderous attack committed Monday night in Manchester who was arrested at his home in Tripoli, told AFP a spokesman for the deterrent Force Ahmed Ben Salem.
"The father, Ramadan Abedi, has just been arrested," he said, saying he was not in a position to give more details at this time.
A relative of the family who also lived in Manchester, told AFP that Salman Abedi was in Libya before going to Great Britain four days before the attack of 22 May.
"His father wanted his son to stay in Libya. But Salman insisted on returning to Manchester, "he said on condition of anonymity.
The attack killed 22 people at the end of a concert by American pop star Ariana Grande on Monday night in Manchester.
According to several British media, Salman Abedi was reportedly born in Manchester in 1994 of Libyan parents who had fled Muammar Gaddafi's regime to seek refuge in the United Kingdom.The deterrent force in Libya consists mainly of Salafists (non-jihadists), mainly based in the east of the capital.
