British actor Kenny Baker, best known for the role of the robot R2-D2 in the movie "Star wars," has died at the age of 81, reports The Guardian.

Recently, the actor was suffering from lung problems and was forced to move about in a wheelchair.

Baker was born in 1934. Success came to him in 1977 after he played robot R2-D2 in the film of George Lucas ' Star wars. Episode IV: a New hope". The growth of the actor was only 112 centimetres, allowing him to fit in the model of the robot and play R2-D2 in all seven original paintings of the Director.
