So Twitter will deal with "the chants of controversial leaders"

Twitter said on Friday it would not cloud the accounts of world leaders even if their comments were "controversial," pointing to the need to support a "public dialogue" on political issues.
According to Agence France-Presse, the Twitter announcement came days after a gaffe of US President Donald Trump hinting at the use of US nuclear weapons, raising criticism that the social networking site allows the dissemination of threats to call for violence.

World leaders are playing a crucial role in this dialogue because of their great influence on our society, "the website said in a letter.

"Blocking a global leader from Twitter and removing his controversial tweets will obscure important information that people should know and discuss," he said, adding that "blocking would not silence this or that leader, and would certainly block the necessary discussions about their words and actions."

The California-based site did not refer to Trump or his comment last week about having a "bigger and stronger nuclear button" than the North Korean button.

Activists say Twitter should block Trump, while a group of opponents has shown pictures that include a message that says "Jack is an accomplice," referring to Jack Dorsey, the site's executive director.

The group, called SS Resistance, accused Dorsey of "endangering the world" and violated the rules of the site by not blocking Trump.

Twitter, less than a month after its launch, comes in new rules aimed at excluding content that includes "hate" and abuse from its platform, including messages that glorify or promote violence.

But Twitter has not closed the door to the possibility of removing certain tweets of political leaders that violate its policy.

"We look at the leaders' changes according to the political context in which they work, and we apply our rules accordingly," the statement said.
