The Fastest Private Jet In The World Will Be Available By 2018

As it stands right now, the fastest private jet in the world is the the Mach.875 Gulfstream G650, which has cruising speeds of up to 610 mph. Spike Aerospace is currently developing what would be the first supersonic private jet, which would have cruising speeds of up to 1.6 Mach speed, or 1,227 mph. That would make it twice as fast as the current fastest jet. Basically this would allow passengers to be take to the farthest point away on the plant in a little over 10 hours. Amazing!

The company is aiming to have this plane ready by 2018, and the target price is around $80 million. The plane will hold up to 18 passengers, but the issue of dealing with the sonic boom is still not known. This may all be a pipe dream, but faster planes are coming regardless if this specific model gets fully developed. The Mach .925 Cessna Citation X is awaiting approval by the FAA sometime in the first part of next year, and if that happens it would become the fastest private jet in the world.

The thought of a plane like this might make many people think that they are nothing but signs of decadence of the filthy rich. While many may view it this way, the reality that is that being able to travel with such speed is enormously efficient for any business dealings, and this is why many big corporations invest in private jets. Billionaire and infamous Shark Tank member Mark Cuban says that purchasing a very expensive private jet was one of the best decisions he's ever made. "It is obviously brutally expensive, but time is the one asset we simply don’t own. It saves me hours and hours."
