IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH or GAIN ANXIETY FROM THIS TOPIC I SUGGEST NOT READING - THIS POST IS ABOUT THE FACTS OF THE PROCESS, WHY IT IS DONE, & THE COST - I WILL BE ADDING MY PERSONAL OPINION AS WELL.
- At least ten states have either used or intend to use "compounding pharmacies" to obtain their drugs for lethal injection.
Compounding Pharmacies are a mixture of drugs mixed into one for the use of lethal injection, it's much simpler than the series of three drugs normally used..
Typically, three drugs are used in the process of lethal injection.
Sodium Thiopental is used to induce unconsciousness.
Pancuronium Bromide (Pavulon) to cause muscle paralysis and respiratory arrest.
Potassium Chloride to stop the heart.
SOME ALTERNATE METHODS : These states and some others have passed laws allowing for alternative execution methods if lethal-injection drugs are unavailable.
Oklahoma's law, effective as of November 2015, allows for the use of nitrogen gas asphyxiation. This chamber is filled with the gas while the person is strapped to the chair inside..
Tennessee's law allows for the use of the electric chair.
Utah's law allows the firing squad to be used if the state cannot obtain lethal-injection drugs 30 days before an execution. This is a chair that the person is strapped in, a squad of about five men stand a ways back and when told they shoot..
New Hampshire allows for hanging "if for any reason the commissioner [of corrections] finds it to be impractical to carry out the punishment of death by administration of the required lethal substance or substances."
THE COST & TIME
Lethal Injection - Death usually occurs approximately 7 minutes after the lethal injection begins, and According to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, the cost for the drugs used in lethal injection is normally about $86.08 If pentobarbital is used the price for this drug alone is $861.60 making the execution cost about $1,000 for taxpayers..- and the cost for Compounding Pharmacies is anywhere from $60-$100 - honestly couldn't find an exact number for this mixture.. Death is not always successful with these methods and are probably pretty dam painful for a few seconds..
Nitrogen Gas Asphyxiation - Inmates are unconscious within ten seconds and dead within minutes. The cost for an airtight chamber is estimated to be about $300,000.. Overpriced for sure, but this same method can be done with a single tank of Nitrogen Gas and a gas mask, the cost of this procedure would be about $50-$100 depending on how large the tank is, but you don't need much.. And death is said to be painless and some would say somewhat euphoric.
Electric Chair - It takes 2-15 mins for an inmate to die from this.. Executions are around $217.25 per prisoner and whatever the pay is for the person doing it, anywhere from $80-$100.
Firing Squad - You'd think this would be the cheapest but it's not.. Volunteer shooters are used and Winchester Rifles are apparently required.. $25,000 is the cost for the chair, the uniforms, the guns + ammo, bet you guessed it, most of that money went to the staff.... And about $860.00 to sedate him.. This makes no since at all to me can you say inflation!? You have volunteer shooters and it's not hard to find a man with a Winchester Rifle, you can call me heartless but I see no point to making sure the inmate is sedated either.. How bout one shot to the head with a volunteers gun, I see no point in making a bad person feel comfortable for his/her death..
Hanging - Takes about 2-6 minutes if the drop is from a short distance, if the drop is longer the spine or neck breaks and it's almost instant.. the price is about $120.00 which again makes no since, cause the rope itself at most should only be about $20...
KEEPING AN INMATE ON DEATH ROW
After a person is found guilty of a capital offense, the judge will give the jury the option of imposing a death sentence or life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. Maintaining each death row prisoner costs taxpayers about $90,000 more per year than a prisoner in general population. Inmates where the death penalty is sought cost us over $1.20 million a year..
MY OPINION
They are a waste of time and a waste of space, in my opinion if they want to stay in jail the family or themselves needs to pay for them, this should not be put on the taxpayers, with that kind of money and how many people are on death row we could build more schools, have more money for healthcare, rainy day funds and so much more. That money should not go towards a person who is going to rot in jail.
I'am fully for the death penalty and I DO NOT CARE HOW BAD IT HURTS, do you think the person sitting on death row cared about the pain his victims went through??? There are plenty of people that would volunteer for the job to do it and not think twice about it. These bad people do not deserve my respect or yours. I don't care about making it painless or quick, if it were up to me I'd let people pay a small fee to line up with baseball bats and do what needed to be done to the worst of them. The simplest way we could do this is with a volunteer and a gun to the inmates head, its quick, painless and wouldn't cost but about $5 at most..
You can call me heartless but I'd like our money to go towards better things like a brighter future for our children..
I think the punishment system as it exists in western countries is truly a waste. The idea that a large portion of money is taken from working Americans to fund keeping people clothed, fed, and in boxes disgusts me. For starters I believe that many of the people currently in jail should not be. I fundamentally believe the concept of 'no victim, no crime'. This alone would dramatically reduce the prison population. If you are a thief, instead of going to prison, you should be forced to pay restitutions in addition to some form of corporal punishment (if you were not shot for stealing to begin with). The death penalty should absolutely be reinstated nation wide and to be frank, I do not care how long it takes or how painful it is. If you kill or rape someone, I think you are beyond rehabilitation and have forfeited your right to live. As such, the cheapest method should be employed. Chains, weights, and a large body of water are very inexpensive and just as deadly as any other method.

Very well said my friend! You and I think a lot alike.. Most of the people in prison should not be there! And agreed on your opinion of rape and murders they shouldn't be allowed to walk on this planet.. I can't believe how often we let these people walk out of jail while the man who was caught smoking some pot has to stay in jail for an extensive amount of time.. It's just crazy how the dealer or user of drugs has to face more time than the pedophile down the street who was caught touching little girls and boys is only required to put a sign in his yard (which most of them don't even do that) Scum like that does not deserve to live in my opinion! Thank you so much for your comment it really means a lot to me. You'r a great person!

Thanks man, glad we think alike. I think everyone has an inherent right to live free from coercion and aggression, but if you violate the rights of another, you forfeit your own. Self preservation is the best peace keeping tool we have and it has been bent shackled here in the US with laws that ban open carry and states that do not have a stand your ground law. If there was a legitimate fear that stealing could end in your death, you are far more likely to not steal and the data on crime in conjunction with private gun ownership support that. For the sake of argument, I would say that someone who is attracted sexually to children is fucked up and needs help, but if they don't act on it no one can or should do anything. If they touch a kid however, I want them to know exactly what it feels like to catch a 9mm in the throat.
