Apple is making its first TV show!

Apple, the tech giant, has officially signed off its first scripted series, which stars Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston.

The series is based on Brian Stelter’s book ‘Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV’. The series will be about a U.S. morning TV show, following the trials and tribulations of the show’s staff and stars. Apple has commissioned two seasons comprising 20 episodes.

Apple beat off all the competition, reputedly Netflix and CBS, in what was a hotly contested bidding war for the show. Even the powerhouse that is Netflix cannot compete with Apple’s incredibly deep pockets.

Aniston’s Echo Films and Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine will be among the series’ production companies, and both actors will be executive producers well as having ownership stakes in the series.

Apple also has a Steven Spielberg series in the making.
