Gaining funding for open source investigation and work is a good idea - but in this case it might be difficult to achieve much as it might be dependent on the companies involved either admitting the story is true or independent researchers somehow gaining access to the servers involved - which is apparently really also dependent on the companies allowing access.

yeah that's true but if they have nothing to hide , and nothing is wrong then why not let a 3 party have a look . I can understand that they would protect there intellectual property .
