Tokyo Olympics 2020 Day 7 Highlights: It was an action-packed day for the Indian contingent on Friday, with many athletes getting one step closer to increasing India’s medal tally. Lovlina Borgohain assured India of their second medal after winning her quarterfinal clash. PV Sindhu claimed a 21-13, 22-20 win over Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi in her quarterfinal match to storm into the last four stage, where she will be up against Tai Tzu-Ying.
The Indian hockey women team marked their first win, beating Ireland 1-0. Meanwhile, Deepika Kumari held her nerves in a shoot-off against Ksenia Perova to book quarterfinal spot, where she went down 6-0 against An San. With athletics kickstarting on Friday, Avinash Sable bettered his own national record. He, however, missed making the steeplechase final. MP Jabir and Dutee Chand also failed to reach 400m Hurdles and 100m finals. In shooting, it was all over for Manu Bhaker and Rahi Sarnobat, who were both out of medal contention in 25m pistol event.
The Indian men’s hockey team beat Japan 5-3 in their last group match to finish their group at second spot. They have gone through to the quarterfinals. India’s 4X400 Mixed Relay Team finished last in their heats to be eliminated. Equestrian Fouaad Mirza finished the day at 7th in Eventing Dressage Day 1.
US gymnast Simone Biles has cast doubt over her participation in the remaining finals at the Tokyo Olympics as she is still struggling to overcome the so-called twisties.
Biles withdrew from the team and all-round finals, before stating that her priority was to look after her mental health.
However, the 24-year-old has revealed that she has been suffering with the twisties since her qualifying round last Sunday, July 25.
"I seriously cannot comprehend how to twist," Biles said during a social media Q&A session.
The twisties has been described by former gymnasts as a type of mental block, which can cause a person to lose their sense of space and direction in the middle of a jump.

Biles went on to state that she has suffered from this in the past, and that it often takes place for around two weeks, but that she has never experienced it on all four pieces of apparatus.
"It's never transferred to bars and beam before for me," she said.
"It strictly likes vault and floor... the hardest two.
