I don't think that will work for long. I reckon software is going to turn this weapon on those that are trying to mug us with it.

You're a programmer. You might better be able to envision how that can eventuate than can I.

It's an old trick. We are presently more dependent on capital than I like, and societies are built around the necessity of capital to fund the goods and services that improve quality of life, like vodka and camry's.

That's going to change.

The good news is governments tend to have a last fit oppression just before they collapse. China's economy is a fraction of what they claim it is and their debt is far greater.

Their only hope to develop oppressive technology faster than they collapse.

Given that China is developing a model infrastructure for export globally, I believe their massive debt will be resolved as that model is adopted by the West. Were they operating absent impending global integration, you would be absolutely correct.

Globalism, exemplified by the Belt and Road Initiative, will put China at the center of the global bankster oligarchy, a la the culture portrayed in the original 'Blade Runner'.

This is the source of my concern: that this utter technological despotism is about to be globally adopted, and that national upheaval faced by China will be absorbed into the international transformation, until global upheaval potentiates replacement of billions of human workers with automation and the population goals set in Georgia Guidestone.

Our only hope is to out maneuver this global despotism by implementing mesh networks, personal manufacturing via 3D printing, and a post market economy that obviates the essential control mechanism of the the generational oligarchy.

The 1 belt 1 road initiative isn't working nearly as well as its made out to be. Venezuela was suppose to be a key piece in that initiative for example. You can't force markets into existence over the long run. Markets develop based on opportunity. You can seed markets, you can't force them. Bankers want something similar for the world just under their rule instead of Xi's.

The result is a conservative/libertarian backlash in the west. We may not have freedom but we understand it. The pendulum is swinging back towards freedom in the west. Now there is a race between globalist (multiple factions) who want to enslave humanity and the people. Technology decentralizes power far more than in centralizes it. As you mentioned. It might get dark for a little while, freedom will win over the long run.

Its not new, Its been in steady development over the past 20 years or so.

Social credit systems and 24/7 tracking for everyone will soon be reality.

In the US you have those wonderful fusion centers, that keep tabs on social unrest, among other many other means.

To be fair, it doesn't work quite as well as they make it look. Humans are much better at tracking you than machines ever will be. If you're out in the woods, you will be an even easier target to find.

Drone technology is far more problematic.

It is a testing ground. They are pushing as far as they can to guage public reaction. In China most are apathetic, or believe the government B/S that its for their protection. Everything that any government does is for its protection, and the servitude of its tax cattle.

This isn't a new system, the technology was developed decades ago, and the behavior of people is the most studied subject ever.

The world is becoming more like the film Idiocracy with every passing day.
