The 'Bloody' Phelps - Robot That Swims Through Arteries

in news •  7 years ago

Scientists in China have designed a minuscule robot that can swim through your blood vessels. Yes, you read that right - a tiny robot that can crawl through blood at the speed of 10 micrometres per second.

Not a fast swimmer, but a very useful one to boot! This nano-swimmer is fast for its size and is it impressive to see that it can wade through thick viscous fluids without a problem. Because its size, it can fit inside any blood vessel and thus can be used to deliver medicine through the bloodstream to any part of the body.

The robots are proposed to be made by biodegradable materials to make sure it is completely safe, before it ventures into clinical trials. If this is a success, it could sure be an idea which could prove to be revolutionary in the field of medicine.
