The Italian representative in the Champions League this season has not been able to ensure qualification for the round of 16. What are their chances?
Juventus, Roma and Napoli still have hopes of qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League this season. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that ensures they will qualify.
The Serie A champions, currently perched second in Group D, under Spanish giants Barcelona. The old lady while winning one point from third group, Sporting CP. The Bianconeri's chances of escaping are big enough. In addition to the points advantage, they also benefit from their opponents in the final group game.
Juve "only" will travel to Greece against Olympiakos in December. Olympiakos is sure to be the caretaker in the group, so they have no interest anymore. The match will only be a formality game. However, the Greek champions do not seem to want to lose in public alone.
Sporting who will be Juve's biggest enemy if they want to escape, have to deal with Barcelona at Camp Nou. The game is fairly heavy for the Portuguese champion. This makes The Old Lady's job much easier. Even if lost even Juve still qualify, provided Leones lost by the Blaugrana.
Other Italian representatives, AS Roma actually led Group C. Unfortunately the defeat of Atletico Madrid makes them have to go down to second place because in other places, Chelsea won a landslide over Qarabag. Similar to Juve, Roma is also still uncomfortable in its position right now.
The Italian capital team also had an advantage in their last match against Qarabag. With no intention to play down Azerbaijan's team, I Giallorossi should be able to win even though at their first meeting only a thin 2-1 lead.
While Atletico must travel to Stamford Bridge. A heavy mission must be faced Diego Simeone foster children if they want to qualify for the round of 16, it had to wait for the results of Roma's match against Qarabag.
The other Italian team is Napoli. Partenopei has a smaller chance than two compatriot brothers. Included in group F which contains dark horses such as Manchester City, Shakhtar Donetsk and Dutch champion Feyenoord. Maurizio Sarri's side currently sit in third, three points behind Ukrainian champion Shakhtar Donetsk.
Napoli must win in the final group game against Feyenoord. Win did not guarantee they qualify, they should expect Manchester City to overcome Shakhtar. The Citizen seems to want to set a record by wiping out all the group matches. So it is with Paris Saint-Germain, if two rich teams are able to win their last game.
When that happens, their points will be the same as Hirnyky. But they are superior head to head after yesterday (22/11) was able to win 3-0 at San Paolo.
Interesting to see the gait of these three Italian teams. Will they escape, or even the three failed to escape. If all three failed to escape, maybe this became a black cloud for Italian football. Given their national team has certainly not followed the World Cup next year. But all three are still able to compete in the European arena, the Europa League.
