A win for freedom - North Dakota: The 2nd Amendment Is Your Concealed Carry Permit

in news •  8 years ago

On Thursday Governor Doug Burgum (R) signed legislation allowing North Dakota residents to carry a handgun concealed for self-defense without a permit.

The legislation–House Bill 1169–passed the House on February 21 by a vote of 83-9. It passed the Senate on March 21 by a vote of 34-13.

Governor Burgum said, “North Dakota has a rich heritage of hunting and a culture of deep respect for firearm safety. As a hunter and gun owner myself, I strongly support gun rights for law-abiding citizens. House Bill 1169 allows citizens to exercise their Second Amendment right under the U.S. Constitution.”

Well, Well, Well. Looks like Mr. @wakeupnd is going shopping this spring for a concealed carry gun.

Anyone have some recommendations?

North Dakota is only the second state to offer permitless concealed carry, New Hampshire sign it into law on Feb 22nd. The bill seems pretty basic, all you need is a valid Id, which I am assuming out of staters can conceal carry to in North Dakota, and notice law enforcement you are armed during a stop. Of course all the laws regarding concealed carry still apply like where can and can't have a firearm.

Many Thanks!

We got this in Kansas too!

I really want a Sig P938 for deep concealment. I personally don't like Glocks, but many people do, so they're always a good option. There's always the classic Walther PPK, although I think its iconic status is overshadowed by better designs now.

And there are more than 2 states with permitless CC. ID, VT, WY, and AZ come to mind. I think there are more now.

As to which gun to choose the P938 looks like a nice little carry gun. I kind of like the G43 single stack but I'll need to get into the store and see which gun feels the best in my hands.

I like the Sig's 1911-style controls, and dislike the Glock trigger, but YMMV. I know a guy who carries a full-size 1911 clone as his CC pistol. It's all on what works for you.

ya you're right there's more than two I read the article wrong. However, most of these states still require you to be a resident of that state. It sounds like this law allows anyone with ID.

Yeah, rights shouldn't be infringed just because of your home's geographic location.

Looks like I'll be moving to North Dakota!! 😜

Minus the fucking cold ass winters it's not a bad place to live.

My folks live in Valley City.... I like your posts! Keep up the good fight .
