Is PayPal Getting Into Cryptocurrency? Their New Patent suggests they aresteemCreated with Sketch.

PayPal would be a huge company to push crypto into the mainstream. A large percentage of website use it and if it accepted crypto then a lot of sites would in turn take crypto for payment. According to this article the company has filed a patent for a way to speed up crypto transactions. If you have sent bitcoin or ethereum lately you have seen the network at times can be slow (thanks cryptokitties :p). This is the next improvement that is being worked on this year. But PayPal might have its own way of speeding up transactions and it involves using secondary keys.

This is big news. Not only is PayPal looking into crypto but they are not starting there own coin. This can lead to several coins being used in their network which would bring more strength to the crypto world. I know that circle has recently got involved by buying Poloniex and we are heading closer to big companies throwing their hat into the ring.

Would you use PayPal to send crypto?

This is the problem with enterprise, they want to patent and control everything, rather than open source which is critical to cryptocurrency. I actually view PayPayal as more susceptible to disruption than banks. Banks still have their traditional lending arms, PayPal is practically fully leveraged to money transfers.

In theory it sounds good for PayPal to be getting involved but it seems like they aren't exactly embracing the core idea of cryptocurrency, rather than just exploiting it for their own benefit.

That is going to be really good. Hopefully, when they do that, they would start letting countries like Nigeria receive funds using PayPal.
It's very frustrating that we can only send funds with PayPal in Nigeria but can't receive. All petitions for the limitations to be lifted fell on deaf ears.

paypal already has several deals with different cyptos like XRP for example...
