Boy chained by grandmother for months

Police rescues Segun Azeez, a 12 years old boy who was locked down with a chain and padlocked for three months by his grandmother, Mrs Yemi Kazeem.

Segun’s mother, Yomi Kazeem,a nurse, who divorced the boy's father, allegedly provided the chain and
padlock with which he tied segun to a spot at home for 3months

According to segun's mother and grandmother, they were only trying to prevent segun from fleeing home

The boy release was led by police commisioner Ahmed Illiyasu leading over a dozen of policemen and some federal anti robbery squad to their
house at ogun state and set the boy free from chains and padlock around 4: 48pm on wednesday

This led to the arrest of the grandmother for further investigation

Segun reported that his ordeal began in his paternal family in Sagamu, he alleged, someone charmed him which caused him to keep fleeing from home

The boy had stopped his education at primary three in sagamu due to deprivations and hunger before his mother brought him to obada town from sagamu where he thought
his sufferings would be lessen, unknown to him that it was just the begining

This could be describes as inhuman and heinous and can lead to "ritual killing or child disspaearance" said the commisioner of police

This crime was discovered through technical intelligence of the FSARS who were on duty, patrolling flash points and found the boy, "famished" because he starves
and deficates st the spot were he was chained before he was rescued

The grand mother, Yemi Kazeem, told reporters that the boy was stubborn and elected to chain him down to prevent him from stealing and further fleeing home.

The woman said she has been fasting and praying because she suspected Segun was having spiritual problems, so that the troubles could be evicted

Also, the boy’s biological mother, Yomi Kazeem, said she was not aware that chaining Segun to a stake was a crime, adding that she bought the chain for the purpose of
confining him to save the grandmother the stress of searching for him should he flee home.
