Mount Olympus in Utah's Wasatch Mountains is on fire. The fire is in an extremely steep, tree lined section of mountains. The fire consumed about five miles of ridge line in a matter of minutes.
Unfortunately my tripod is broken; So I had to try taking the pictures at 1:00 AM and the picture is jerky. I should practice night photography.
This was the most dramatic wild fire I've seen. The bright spot in the picture is a group of trees that were essentially exploding. I wish I was better at night photography. I could see huge flames on the ridge where the photo just shows white.
This next picture shows Mount Olympus. The fire was on the ridge on the left side of the image. People refer to the ridge as Rattlesnake Ridge due to the large number of rattlesnakes in the area. The canyon is called Neff Canyon.
