Continuing to go where almost no brewery has gone before, Budweiser will release a limited-edition beer Tuesday that celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first lunar landing that took place on July 20, 1969. The fourth in its Reserve Series Collection that marks iconic moments in time, Discovery Reserve nods to the brand’s ambitions in space by enlisting a former Air Force captain to brew a recipe based on one from the time of the famed Apollo missions to the moon. To brew the red lager, Bud Brewmaster Karissa Norrington used the same type of Voyager barley malts that Budweiser partnered with the International Space Station (ISS) to expose, steep, germinate and kiln in space in 2017 and 2018.
