What do you all think about this?
"An electrical company in the US state of Vermont says it has found malware code allegedly used by Russian hackers on one of its company laptops."
I don't know if it's true or not, but I can say I do know that the US power grid is old, and not particularly stable. It doesn't seem like it would be too hard for someone to get control of some of the computers managing things, and really do some damage to the countries productivity.
Seems factual

It's possible people will hack utilities to get a ransom or to disrupt services in the area. It's not necessarily a government hack, but probably impossible to prove that

Exactly there is no evidence that points this as a state/government sponsored hack.

I'm pretty sure it's a true story, as it has been reported by several reputable sources. As a programmer, I can tell you that it is completely plausible to recognize signature-type patterns in code, and it's just a good thing they scanned the machines when they did to find it. This was a win for counter-terrorism.

It's concerning that this sort of thing is being found not because of what is actually being found, but because of what might be missed. Thank you for your reply!
