The Sound of New Year's 🎧
New Year's Eve with my king and his family was full of unexpected treats. I'm so grateful to have been a part of it again this year!
Started off stuffing myself with yummy Filipino food, including homemade lechon and sauce, and his mom's famous lumpia -- this time in the mini wrappers she preferred to use to make them, rather than the large ones she'd used for Christmas dinner (which I liked just as much, cuz they were good for scooping her yummy special sauce into :) ). It was exciting to try the lumpia the way my king likes them, and see what they must have looked like when he sold them during his school's food fair, as part of the Filipino table he headed! The 300 he brought sold out so fast because they were so good, so I'd always wanted to try them! They tasted super-good with the lechon sauce, too! ^_^ And my king also let me try some Frank's sour cream and onion chips after dinner, which I actually really liked, though I don't normally like that flavour, because it tasted like real onion.
I was pretty in awe of my king, listening to him DJ songs he'd mixed and recorded back when he used to dabble in DJing, because all his mixes were SO FREAKING GOOD that I told him he should make a CD of them and sell them. He explained his song choices to me, and how he was changing the energy and tempo of our night as he DJed, and it was awesome seeing how they played out and matched the room.
The song that stuck out to me the most was "Imagine Me Without You" by Jaci Velasquez. As I listened to the lyrics, I kept saying "yeah" and "that's me!" in my head, cuz I thought it described how I feel about my king so well! It had my heart buzzing like spiritual songs do, and really got me into the music.
I got really excited when my king remixed some of his own songs on the spot. They already sound awesome, but his mixing really put them over the top! I love my king's DJing so much! ❤️❤️❤️
My king found a cool remixed version of Auld Lang Syne to play after the countdown, and then his mom brought us to the casino to end off the night with some DANCING! Going out was such a surprise that I didn't even have shoes to wear, but his mom was awesome enough to lend me some beige flats so that I could go too. SO MUCH FUN and so EXHILARATING to have my king lead me in salsa, hustle, cha cha, and more, and I loved watching him show his stuff soloing to MJ! ❤️ I felt so privileged to get to dance with him the entire time. ❤️
Was such a full night that I didn't get a chance to try some of the Ilocano-style Filipino desserts his mom had made, and my king was awesome enough to give me some of the tupig and bibinka the next day, so that I could try some the next night! I really appreciated that, 'cause those are two of his favourite desserts, and I'd always wanted to see what they were like! Also forgot to announce the mini coconut cream pie desserts I'd brought so that his family would know they were in the freezer, so I look forward to having them with his family another day. :)
I feel so blessed to be included in my king and his family's lives and gatherings. My king told me later that his mom had brought us to the casino so that we could extend the night and hang out longer, rather than cutting the night short, and I really appreciated
getting to spend those few extra hours with him -- they really made the night, just like getting to hang with him always makes my day! ❤️
Thank you for making every day a special one, my king!
Looking forward to another great year with you! ❤️
