It finally arrived all over the world, 2018 or the year of crypto as many like to call it. We´ll see a lot of things happening to the cryptosphere along with massive ups and downs in the market. It´s going to be a great time for everyone who´s involved and didn´t just blindly invest into any shitcoin.
My major focus in 2018 definitely lies on solid and promising projects just like steem and bitshares. I´ll continue to power up and will use the Bitshares DEX even more as I assume that we´ll see more and more people moving their portfolios there from the centralized exchanges. I can just recommend you to do so as it´s a secure way to store your coins and you are not exposed to any actions or decisions of a single company. Decentralization will win in the end, latest after the next big hack of a hot wallet of one of the big exchanges, which is likely to happen once again as it has been the case before already.
I strongly believe that 2018 will be the year that separates the scamcoins from the real projects having real value for us. We´ll see a lot of altcoins go down in flames while the good ones will rise and establish their fixed place in the cryptosphere. That being said, please do your own research before you invest and don´t just blindly throw in your money into everything that´s cheap 😉

I just wrote a post mentioning this...not so much about people's coins being hacked as much as the new settlement system the banksters are setting up. Either way, centralized databases get hacked, that is a way of life. Decentralized have the layer spread so thin and wide that it cant be hit.
I agree DEX will really take off in the next 3 years....we are going to see huge amounts of activity moved to the blockchain.
2018 will be a very good year for the legitimate projects.

I´ll definitely take a look on your post that you mention :) I hope that people will finally realize that centralization isn´t the thing cryptos are striving for and that using the DEX isn´t just ways more secure but cheaper as well in regards to e.g. transaction fees.

They are rising again at this very moment. I've moved some to this account at Steemit a few months ago and am pleased the value had gone up two-fold. Been tempted to send them back to Bittrex and cash out. But that will mean my Steem Power will be reduced. So I'm leaving them here. Steemit is the way social media - especially Facebook - should be (but aren't).

After reading this post, I'm going to finally use the Bitshares account. Had opened it a few months ago but it didn't look like much at that time. Your post here indicates it's worth a second look. But have to admit that I'm also rather sore with myself for not buying its tokens when they were at $0.05 :-)
When it comes to exchanges, it's not so much the trading fees they charge. I consider 0.25% as being quite reasonable. But not the transaction fee to transfer Bitcoin especially, and USDT. 0.001 when BTC was below $5,000 might still be okay. But at $15,000... Ouch!
Then there's that worry about our account being suddenly suspended/disabled for some reason or another. Some of us has had this happen at Bittrex. And just like that we lose access to out hard-earned assets.
That's a lesson for us to take steps to be more in control of our cryptos. Can't be too dependent on these exchanges.

I agree that the scamcoins will be weeded out in 2018 and people who did some research will win out in the long run. It's an exciting time to be part if the crypto world.
We need to move our coins from the exchange into wallets and have started the process but not all coins have separate wallets which makes it a bit harder.

I agree completely that this will be the year of the DEX, probably bitshares. After dealing with centralized exchanges I hardly buy any coins that aren't on bitshares or shapeshift, it's just a lot of hassle and nailbiting to get them in and out.
