My 5 top recommended places to do in New York City

Are you planning a trip to the big city this year?

Besides the Empire State, Statue of Liberty and Central Park being on your visit list, there are many other iconic places to visit in New York that are only known to locals or regular visitors.

I have been fortunate enough to live in New York City during my early 20's on an internship program and wanted to share my top 5 things to do, see and eat in the big apple!

(1) One World Observatory - this is a fairly new building next to the the 9/11 memorial in downtown Manhattan with a 360 degree skyline. Besides the Rockerfeller building and Empire State, this is a great alternative to see a full view of New York City.

(2) Chelsea market - an indoor market with the best food stores and boutiques, a great place to hang out on a cold winter's day. I recommend going into the Lobster Place if you fancy some fresh seafood or warm homemade soup.

(3) The high line - a short walk from the Chelsea market with stunning views of the city and river. Look out for some of New York's best artwork as well!

(4) Serendipity - an Alice and Wonderland themed restaurant great for the little kids and big kids! This place is known to be famous in many movies and is a popular choice for locals and tourists. I fully recommend booking a table, as we even had to wait 1 hour on a weekday afternoon.

(5) Max Brenners - one of my personal favourites is Max Brenners chocolate restaurant. If you love chocolate as much as I do then you'd be happy to hear they do everything from chocolate pizzas, fondues, to a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic chocolate beverages. Besides chocolate, they also do great food perfect for lunch or dinner.
